About

New Education Options is a grassroots nonprofit that was formed in Los Angeles by Public Counsel’s partner law firms. We formed were formed in 2002 and continue today as a TK-12 public benefit corporation (501 c 3) with a program site in Woodland Hills called Kids First So Cal under Childcare Resource Services which has open seats this holiday season and as a research and development program that expects to return to Liggett Street Elementary School in 2022 and online with student, teacher, aid resources during the year. Watch for new teaching at home handouts and workshops in January 2021.

William Elliott and Bo Lebo were able to link their in the auditorium performances of an adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in the Willows’ to young children to educational theory and practice across all school district territories under the new 501 c 3.  In 2002, as New Education Options, Inc. , our project was founded  to serve at risk kids in city public schools who were not mastering reading skills by 6 years old at their grade level. In 2008, NEO director, Bo Lebo tested our curriculum assertions in earning a Masters of Education from California State University San Bernardino. In 2015, NEO became fiscal sponsor of KidsFirst and students performed The World Around Me for the GLOBE Conference at Universal City sponsored by the Mayor. In 2020, although we have operated continuously and Bo has won an honorarium for work with the University of Toledo and joined GLOBE North American partners at UC Berkeley, Lawrence Hall of Science, we are restructuring to serve more students and prepare for reopening with more staff.

We continue today reaching out for the literacy goals stated by the federal and state code.   Our developmental arch was to join our mobile classroom as an arts in education STEM program with an excellent child care for 3-11 year olds on Elementary School campuses.   Today we are preparing to perform and train professionals in Musical Linguistics working with NASA teacher trainer, Janet Struble in preparation of an informal science grant that will widen our target audience to KidsFirst participants both in Woodland Hills and online with rigorous and relevant content and NSF.gov research as the youngest GLOBE cohort of citizen scientists studying weather, aerosols, plants, trees, and water.

As a San Fernando Valley, Districts 3-based agency working as the fiscal agent of Kids First in Woodland Hills as a Childcare Resource Services provider.  Neo (New Education Options) in tandem with Mrs. Reichbach provides a spectrum of TK-12 public school services year round originally licensed for before and after school for 60-90 children at specific District on-campus elementary school sites. We opened Plummer Elementary North Hills in August  2017 and closed all our approved service sites (including STEM-STEAM pilot research)  in March 2020 due to Covid-19 precautions.

This November thanks to the SBA and the Care Act, we are repositioning to offer new subsidies for student attendance participating with Charles Sherman Art.com to underwrite students not covered by CDSS Title 1 student state support in Giving Tuesday 2020.
